Japan lower house endorses new BoJ leadership

As expected, the Japanese lower house has approved the three BOJ leadership nominees, with Mr. Kuroda as the appointed governor, while the two deputies are Mr. Iwata and Mr. Nakaso.

The upper house is now next to decide on the nominees, with a voting session scheduled for Friday 1.00GMT. Doubts remain about the endorsement of Mr. Iwata as deputy, after the main Japanese opposition party publicly opposed his nomination.

Small opposition groups in the upper house will hold the key to decide whether Mr. Iwata finally grabs the second deputy position. Disapproval means the position would stay vacant for the time being, until the parliament finds a suitable substitute.
